Orioles with a Strong Start

Click the Title

In 2017 the Red Sox and Yankees fought over first place in the AL East, and many thought that would be the case this year but it hasn't as the Orioles have taken the lead in the East with a 22-8 record. But, the Red Sox and Yankees aren't far behind as the Sox are 2 games behind the O's and the Yankees are 5 behind the Orioles.
The Orioles are doing good because of the great starts of Starters Justin Masterson, Ray Holtz, and Rickey Romero.
Holtz is the real show off because in 4 games he is 4-0 with a 1.29 ERA and has 3 complete games, and one game that he pitched only 8 innings pitched. The innings eater in Holtz is doing so good I think because he hasn't given the game to the bullpen since I believe the Bullpen in Baltimore needs some work.

On April 28th against the Cleveland Indians off pitcher Zack Greinke in the 4th inning Jim Thome made history as he is the first player ever to hit 800 Home Runs in his career. The 47 year old Thome has been playing for 27 season and in that time he has been on 6 different teams.
Along with having 800 Home Runs Thome also has 3000 Hits, 2000 RBIs, 2000 Runs, with 11557At-Bats.

Memorable Moments in BMJ History: 2.0 Boda Cheats and Leaves

"Sometime this past week it was found out that a player on the New Haven Bulldogs overall and vitals were increased, this players name was Chris Thomas. When our BMJ insider Craig Peters asked Boda how this could have happened he said "I am using the 15.10 version of Mogul so there may have been a glitch." he also stated that "on my game Chris Thomas is an 81." Later in the week it was found out that more of the bulldogs players were changed, at this time these players names are unknown to me. After this was found out all the players that were changed were deleted.
Commissioner Nwuhockey gave Boda the chance to confess to cheating so he could stay here as a GM but he denied changing the players and left."

Interview with the Team from the Grand Canyon State

1. Which team do you see as the most competition for you the NL West?

Answer "I'm not worried about anyone(Class of the NL) as I will win the division VERY easily. With the way my team is playing, I wouldn't be surprised if I don't lose another game all year. My guys are playing very loose and having a great time out there; getting back to the basics. They really bonded over the off-season. The Rockies(RMel) and Dbacks rented a huge mansion out in Hollywood and just partied all winter long while having a BUNCH of sex with models. actresses, singers and strippers."

2. Will we see the DiamondBacks bid on any IFA's?

Answer "The Diamondbacks will not be dipping into the IFA arena this year due to the prices being bloated this early into the bidding process."

3. Do you think the DiamondBacks can win the World Series this year?

Answer "Of course I think the DBacks can win the WS this year when I said they might not lose another game all year. DUH!"

4. Who do you Value the most on your team?

Answer "I value DLC the most on the team because he is my "baby". We basically do everything together; Eat, shop, shit(two toilets next to each other), walks, and what
 have you."

Adrian Beltre Retires at 39

Adrian Beltre has announced his retirement he is 39. Adrian had been playing in the MLB for 20 seasons and in that time he played on 9 teams. In Adrian's career he has hit 410 Home Runs with 2710 hits and a career Batting Average of .277. I believe in the near future Adrian will be a Hall Of Famer with around 79-83% of the votes.

Memorable Moments in BMJ History: BMJ 2.0 Fiscal Cliff

BMJ Sequester
  • Budgets will drop at MIN 30% at end of season and will drop continously more after
  • inflation will skyrocket and league min will be unberable past legue rules
  • Our leagues biggest markets could turn into the leagues smallest
  • Players demands will skyrocket

We need to come up with some sort of fix that will help. Here are our issues we need to talk about.
  • Revenue Sharing(currently a 30% going to league in taxes)
  • Player Demands
  • League Revenue Percentage(currently +70%)
  • Boston-New York-New Haven Markets
  • Luxury Tax
  • Hard Cap
  • And if anyone else can think over anything else

Tampa has Picks too trade

The Tampa Bay Rays GM Nucker said that "If any team is looking for Draft Picks, we got three second rounders available (two compensation picks and the 35th Overall Pick)"
When our BMJ Insider asked the Rays GM what he would be looking for the Draft Picks he said "Package them for a good prospect, young player, or a mid first round draft pick."
Some of the teams I think could get these picks are, the Royals, Twins, Brewers, Mets, or the Cubs.

Yankees looking too trade Halladay

The Yankees GM Gamerthps announced that he was looking to trade Starter Roy Halladay, After giving him a 45M dollar contract in the 2016-17 Off-season. 40 year old Halladay is not slowing down as he is still a top Starter in the League. He mostly relies on his control now a day as he was 4th in the AL in Walks per nine innings with a 1.54 Ratio.
Halladay has his 45M dollar contract up this year and it has been said he wants anywhere from 32-38 Million for 2 years. If the Yankees do trade him I don't think they will get much back in return because of Halladay's Contract. Also the Yankees GM Gamerthps stated that if we don't get what we’re looking for Halladay then were hoping he can get us compensation.

IFA Rules

IFA Rules

1.1- Sim 2-5 will be known as the open period to be on Free agents
1.2- The IFA pool will consist of 2 prospects and 1 MLB ready player.
1.3- Every team has a hard cap budget of 10 mil. If a team goes over that, they will be fined 20 mil, a 2nd offense = 20 mil and lose the right to bid on IFA for one year, 3rd offense= 20 mil fine and banned from bidding on IFA again.
1.4- Teams can only up the previous team's bid by 500k.
1.5- Teams with no cash after sim 1, can't bid on IFA regardless if they get cash during the open period.

Milwaukee Wants to Relocate

I have found out that the Brewers are looking to possibly move from Milwaukee. Milwaukee has been the home for the brewers for 48 years and in that time they have racked up 1 MVP, CY Young, ROTY, and Gold Glove, as well as 85 All-Stars and 1 Pennant.
When our BMJ Insider CPB caught up with the Brewers GM he had this too say, "We are currently looking to move to Columbus, Indianapolis, or Memphis."
As this story developes we will have more details on it.

IFA's to Return

It's been awhile since IFA's (International Free Agents) have been seen in BMJ, but now one of the new commissioners Kirby Puckett are bringing them back. Our BMJ Insider asked KP a few questions about IFA shown below.

1. With IFA's are all the Players going to be good?
"A good Majority like over 80% will have a 90 Peak."

2. How about the MLB ready ones?
"Same"

3. But wouldn't that Influx the Talent Pool though?
"May make four good MLB Ready Players."

The Rules for IFA are listed below:

IFA Rules

1.1- Sim 2-5 will be known as the open period to be on Free agents

1.3- Every team has a hard cap budget of 10 mil. If a team goes over that, they will be fined 20 mil, a 2nd offense = 20 mil and lose the right to bid on IFA for one year, 3rd offense= 20 mil fine and banned from bidding on IFA again.
1.4- Teams that missed the playoffs can sign 3 IFA prospects and 3 MLB ready players
Teams that made the playoffs, but missed the world series can sign 2 IFA prospects and 2 MLB ready players, and the two teams that made the world series can only sign 1 IFA prospect and 1 IFA mlb ready player.
1.5- Teams can only up the previous team's bid by 500k.
1.6- Teams with no cash after sim 1, can't bid on IFA regardless if they get cash during the open period.

The Cardinals released this shortly after the trade, "I signed Choo last offseason with the intention of hopefully being a useful filler player and valuable trade piece. Townsend is good but not going to be useful for when I am ready. 3 draft picks that will net me 85 plus specs and continue building the future. Cash is nothing to me as I am well under budget and have plenty of it."

New Admins Announced

The New Admins have been announced and they are Kirby Puckett and Gavin. Congratulations to both Gavin and KP.

New Admin Chosen

Commissioner Nwuhockey told me that him and the other Admins have decided on the new commissioner. A new Commissioner is being chosen to replace FMGM who said he would leave at the end of August.
Nwuhockey also said "The announcement of who the commissioner is will come tonight."

Potential New Admin:

Gavin- Gavin gave up his team a while ago and now his sole job is as a Trade Mod in BMJ. Gavin is very active even though he does not have a team so I do think Gavin could be the new Admin considering his activity to league.

Matsuidaman-  Matsuidaman had come on a few days ago and he had given some good ideas to the Admins in the chatbox like having a check in. Matsui also said he had run a few league in the past so I also see him as a potential candidate for the job.

Vogelbach Leaves Tampa Bay

The Mariners and Rays agreed on a four player deal that will send first baseman Dan Vogelbach to Seattle for three Prospects. Vogelbach is a good power bat for any team and will definately help the Mariners as it looks like Stratford wants to compete this year maybe.
Dan Vogelbach said this to our BMJ Insider, "I am glad to be on playoff contender and still be able to be a DH hopefully."

MoneyMike said this regarding the trade, "I am going for it this year Cueto dispite being 32 is still a solid back end guy and Chapman is alright as well. CIN has some slight money problems which shredding some salary should help that out. Tribe is younger and cheaper than Cueto so its a plus there. Douglas is still a spec but should be a solid one at that. I think both teams win here and I am happy with this trade although it puts me over budget."

6. Jmel- Write In [ 2 ]  [16.67%]

Q&A with CPB on move to Montreal

1. Give a statement about moving to Montreal.

The Orlando Century are glad to bring baseball back to Montreal and we can't wait until our first game there.

2.  How does moving to Montreal effect your plans for the team?

Hopefully the move will give us a little more money to play with during Free Agency.

3.  Why did you feel this move was necessary?

In 2017 We were a game away from a possible playoff birth but we only had an average attendance of 20,000. I mean the Blue Jays who only had 24 wins had a better Attendance then us. That was probaly the major reason for the move.

4.  Do you expect any setbacks with this move?

There maybe be some setbacks in the new stadium with players not preforming as good as they should but I'm confident that in 2018 the Montreal Expos will be in the playoffs.

5.  What makes Montreal a better option than Orlando?

Montreal has 600,000 more residents than Orlando. Also Im hoping the move gets my budget bigger.

Washington Wants Longoria Out

It was told to me by the Nationals GM Lechoker that the Nationals want Longoria out of Washington. Longoria has been with the Nats for 6 years after being traded in Srping Training from the Rays for A.J Cole, Anthony Rendon, and Josh Bell.
Lechoker told our BMJ Insider that "We need to get younger, looking to trade Longo for a replacement third baseman or Starting Pitcher."

Free Agents
Yoenis Cespedes
Ruben Tejada

Kole Calhoun
Kyle Banks
Adam Wainwright
Erik Bedard
Chris Tillman
Mike Adams
Cesar Jimenez

The San Diego Padres are a team that doesn't really need to do much this offseason.  Sure losing Cespedes will hurt next season, but they have enough depth in the outfield to help with another playoff run.  With a solid rotation and bullpen, look for San Diego to be a major contender in the National league again next season.

Orlando Century Head to Montreal

It's offical the Admins have approved it, there are no longer the Orlando Century but now there is the return of the Montreal Expos. The Expos became exctinct after 04 when they move to Washington and became the Nationals. The Century spent one year in Orlando ending the year with a 86-76 record.

Interview: 2017 World Champion Padres GM

1. How big of an imapct do you think your trade deadline deals made on your World Series win?
"Huge. Way more than I expected they would. Villalona was terrible, but Wainwright got the win in games 6 and 7 of the World Series, beating the player I traded for him (Chris Young) in game 7 in one of the most clutch relief appearances of all time. 5.1 shutout innings against maybe the consensus best team in baseball.
And Yoenis Cespedes was even more dramatic. He won the MVP for all three playoff series! NLDS, NLCS, and WS MVP. That's unheard of. He OPSed something like 1.080 for the entire playoffs.
I'm losing both Wainwright and Cespedes to free agency for nothing more than a pair of Type B compensation picks, but the future value lost is dwarfed by the epic performances those guys gave me. Without them, I'm a loser. With them, I'm world champion.
Flags fly forever."

2. Do you think your New Stadium had any impact on your 2017 performance?

"Absolutely. I'd say the payroll aspect was pretty neutral. My budget went up, but I'm on the hook for loan payments, so I didn't have a ton more money to spend. But neutralizing the park factors was huge. People don't realize what a disadvantage it can be to have an extreme park. Take PETCO. If you have a terrible park for hitting home runs, it means you basically can't target players who derive a lot of their value from hitting for power. That cuts off a giant segment of the market from you, and you find yourself begging for non-power hitters who can still provide offensive value, which is rare, and which is what I did all my first season. I was faced with the choice of overpaying to acquire the few players who could actually thrive in my stadium, or building a new one. I chose the latter, and it paid off in spades."

3. Is your wallet gonna be opened or closed in the off-season?
''My wallet is always open, with money and assets flowing freely in both directions. I don't see us giving out the standard seven year, 200 million dollar contract to aging stars that you see around here, but we'll be on the lookout for savvy pickups. I started the season with an entire bullpen built from free agent castoffs I identified with some advanced methods and signed for a million bucks apiece tops, usually league minimum. None of these guys had an overall above 79. And I had a better bullpen ERA than average, even factoring out the contributions of midseason pickups like Axford, Bradley, and Motte.
But free agency seems like a sucker's game at this point. I'd rather watch the big market teams blunt the biggest advantage any team can have by signing mediocre players with impressive overalls to awful deals, and float around the edges. You'll probably see more trades than multi-year signings from the Padres, but anything could happen. If an opportunity falls into my lap, I'll take it."

4. Do you think we will see the Padres winning back-to-back World Series?
"If I had to bet, I'd bet that no, we won't repeat. I think we were one of the best teams in baseball last year despite our record, as our Pythagorean record bears out. We had elite run prevention and enough offense to make it work, and most players will be returning or recycled into other MLB assets. That said, it's very hard to repeat. Even the best team in baseball is an underdog against the field.
On second thought, I think I've changed my mind. I've decided to win it all again. Suck it, haters."

Orlando Century Relocating?

It was announce Friday Night that the Orlando Century are looking to relocate to Montreal Quebec Canada. The Century joined the MLB in the 2017 season with almost the lowest average attendence in the league besides the Mets and Brewers. This is a little bit of a shock because the Century almost were a playoff team coming short of the 2nd Wild Card by one game. If the relocation is approved then the Century would be cahnging there name to the Montreal Expos, and they would move into the Expos old stadium Olympic Stadium.

1:15 PM EST: SoxFan approves the Relocation to Montreal. This is his reasoning "I wasn't a big fan of expanding in ORL (Orlando) in the first place; there are several better cities for an MLB team, and Montreal is one of them. Also, this will keep the team in the ALE."
Commissioner Nwuhockey also stated that it looks like there will be a new team in Canada next year.

Trade Deadline: Winners

Dodgers- The Dodgers didn't make many trades on the Deadline but they did make one that could definitely impact there playoff contention. The Dodgers acquired First Baseman Mark Trumbo from the Houston Astros by trading First Baseman Johnathon Singelton and Left Field Prospect Brian Strachen. Trumbo is a good upgrade for Singleton, but Trumbo is most likely just a rental since he is looking for 21.3 Million over 5 years so I think we will see Trumbo on FA if he doesn't live up to his hopes.

White Sox- The White Sox made two good trades to try to help them in there playoff contention. One trade involved Marlins Center Fielder Ben Revere being traded to the Sox's for Center Fielder Jared Mitchell and Starter Sandy Westlake. After Revere was sent to winter league by the Twins he came back a revised player, as of 2017 he has a .315 Batting Average with a .387 On-Base Average.
Another Trade the White Sox made was too strengthen there Rotation by getting Jon Lester from the Mets for Second Baseman Prospect Jamie Perkins. This is a smart trade for Chicago because there getting a vetran Starter for a below average Prospect.

Red Sox- The Red Sox made the blockbuster trade of the Deadline by getting Casey Kelly from the Rockies by trading Starter Jarod Parker and three Starting Prospects in John White, Chris Warkol, and Quentin Roth. Kelly is one of the top Starters in BMJ, he is a great pitcher with a good contract. Kelly will no doubt be the man that clinches the Red Sox's playoff spot.
The Red Sox made another trade by getting two good prospects from the Reds for Pitcher Aaron Crow. The Sox got Pitching Prospects in Albertus Guebard and Jeff Alder. Guebard is a good power and Movement pitcher with a good Circle-Change and Slider. Guebard will probaley be a trade piece coming from Boston since I don't see Guebard ever coming too the Majors in Boston

Final Moments before deadline

It is coming down to the wire and teams are still trying to make deals. Names surrounding the looming deadline are Houston's Mike Trumbo and Colorado's Matt Szczur.

Mike Trumbo- Rumor is Houston has a deal close to being done with a deal that would send away Trumbo. Rumor is Trumbo is being traded for a handful of specs plus a solid young replacement. Early reports say the Dodgers are close to completing a deal. Jonathan Singleton plus more seems to be the base for Trumbo.

Matt Szczur- Early reports had him in Oakland but reports have gone stale since. A deal is unlikely at this point but isn't completely dead.

Ben Revere Rumors as of 3:00 PM EST

Ben Revere probably is the most covenant name out there today on the block at the deadline. Here is our look at whats going on.

2:00- Marlins reveal Dodgers, Angels and White Sox all in hunt for Revere. Marlins are looking for a big package in return.

2:45- Rumors begin to come out that the White Sox are in the lead for Ben Revere.

3:00- Marlins are still waiting for other teams but seems apparent Revere may be on way to White Sox.

Trade Rumors as of 2:30 PM EST

The Trade Deadline is nearing and teams are looking to make alot of moves. Some names being tossed around surround Oscar Hernandez, Ben Revere, Vern Carman, Jon Lester, Lonnie Chisenhall, Chris Young, and Garrett Jones.

Oscar Hernandez- Seattle reporting there has been activity but not enough to move him yet. Boston is a team that has presented interest but the Mariners are not sure if it is enough to deal their starting catcher. Hernandez markets seems to be quiet outside of Boston. My projection is he doesn't move.

Ben Revere- A shocking name here at deadline but only hearing it is talks. The Marlins are reported to be talking to teams such as the Angels, Dodgers, and White Sox. Early reports see the Dodgers as a suitable candidate. My projection is he doesn't move. Revere is a guy who will bring in a huge package. Not sure if many teams will want to give it up.

Vern Carman- Rumors are saying Arizona potentially. The Diamondbacks would love to bring in a young SP and New York likes the young outfields in Arizona, which is what they are looking for. Don't be shocked if this gets done. My projection is Carman is in Phoenix at the end of the day.

Jon Lester- Lester went for a small deal as the White Sox acquired Lester for 2B prospect Jaime Perkins. Lester has struggled greatly in New York this year and looks to come over and have a good last month with the Sox. Lester does not look like he will make comp so the question is will the white sox re up Lester with no compensation.

Lonnie Chisenhall, Chris Young, and Garrett Jones are all names flying around but rumors are the front is quiet on them.

Future Marlins says Bye to BMJ

The Dodgers GM FMGM gave his notice that he was leaving BMJ at the end of August. FMGM wrote this as to why he is leaving.

"Just recently, I got my work schedule for the upcoming fall semester and will be working 30 hours a week. In addition, I will be taking full time classes; my final courses required for my Bachelors degree and before my semester of Student Teaching in the winter semester. Finally, this upcoming fall semester, I will be completing my practicum which requires teaching in a classroom for one day a week.
After sitting down and looking over all the commitments I will have coming up for the upcoming fall semester (won't be home until 9 on weeknights), I have arrived at a very difficult decision. I am announcing at this time that I will be leaving BaseMogul Junkies; resigning both my commissioner-ship and as GM of the Los Angeles Dodgers effective at the end of August.
I wanted to make this announcement well in advance so that the league can make appropriate preparations for when I do make my departure from the league. In addition, I wanted to thank everyone for making this the best league I've ever been apart of, especially to NWU who entrusted me to be part of the commissioners in this league and to SoxFan1918 and Stratford as fellow commissioners."

FMGM has been a great Commissioner for BMJ and I hope he can come back soon.

Tuesday Rumors: Romero, Alexi to Miami

Wednesday 2:50 pm:  The deal has been vetoed by the commissioners office.  It is unclear if it will be redone as of 2:30 pm.

11:30 pm: RP prospect Brian Wallace and SP prospect Roberto Sarellano also headed to Baltimore along with Baltimore's 3rd rounder that was traded to Miami in the Herschel deal earlier tonight.

11:25 pm: It is thought that SP prospect Louis Collin is one of the several pitching prospects headed to Baltimore.

11:23 pm:  Reports are circulating that SP Ricky Romero and SS Alexi Ramirez are headed to Miami for low level prospects.  Those prospects are not clear at the moment.  It is believed that this Miami and Baltimore have been negotiating this trade the past three days.

Casey Kelly Rumors

Early reports are indicate Casey Kelly is on way to the Red Sox. Kelly has been traded for a replacing SP in Jarrod Parker, SP prospects John White, Quentin Roth, and Chris Warkol. The Red Sox will receive Casey Kelly and a 4th round pick from the Rockies.

The Red Sox just made a jump to the top of the AL East now leading by 3.5 over the Yankees.

Kelly is 13-6 with a 2.67 ERA. Kelly was won 5 straight games that he has decided. Kelly went 7 innings and gave up 2 runs in his final start with Colorado.

Rockies could Look to Trade Ace

Denver, CO- The Rockies have said they are not packing up quite yet  but could be looking to deal SP Casey Kelly. Kelly who is in his 2nd Season with the Rockies is 11-6 with a 2.74. Kelly of course though won't come cheap. The Rockies GM Rmel has already said he does not know whether or not a trade will happen but it will depend on the price he gets. The Rockies are looking to get a major spec package for Kelly. Kelly is sure to gain alot of interest and a source close to the Rockies has told BMJTR that they have received offers but have not had one that has made them want to move Kelly.

Some potential teams interested in Kelly could be the Orioles, Tigers, White Sox, Astros, Athletics, Phillies, Century, and Reds. All these teams are in need of a SP if they want to make a run in the playoffs.

BMJTR is projecting a 30% chance of the Rockies trading Kelly and we also project if he is traded it will be to the Orioles.

A look at expansion

Over a year ago, it was announced that Orlando and Santa Ana would be getting a baseball team.  Almost a season into the young franchises, both teams are on the outside looking in and have a long hill to climb in order to contend.

They also have a long hill to climb in order to attract fans.

"We have a baseball team, who knew?" said one Santa Ana resident.

"There are about a thousand other things in Orlando that I would do before I see a baseball game.  Hell, I would rather see the Orlando Magic before I go watch the clusterfuck that the MLB is trying to sell us."  said one angry Orlando resident.

"It's disheartening," said James Loney (Orlando Century 1st baseman).  "I had my doubts when I first heard about the expansion and so far they have been proven correct."

Both teams are averaging less than 25,000 fans per game.

"We've been trying to do some promotions to attract fans," said Santa Ana's promotion Manager.  "But it's hard to get fans to switch to your team when we have 5 mlb teams within a close range competing with us.  It makes it very difficult."

No Hitter in St. Louis

On June 15th the Pittsburgh Pirates Starter Andrew Heaney made history in St. Louis as he pitched a No Hitter against the Cards. In the game Heaney got 12 Ks and 3 walks while pitching 121 pitches. Heaney was coming off a game against the Phillies in which he went 7 scoreless innings give up only five hits. In his last 3 games Heaney has given up only 2 runs in 24.0 Innings.

Beltre Headed to Pittsburgh

Its been reported that the Pittsburgh Pirates have sign 39 Year Old Third Baseman Adrian Beltre for one year 700k. Beltre hasn't really played that much since the begining of 2016 playing only 69 games from April 1st 2016 too June 4th 2017. In that time Beltre has 16 HRs with 60 RBIs.
