The Rockies GM Rmelo had this to say about the trade "
Sucks to give up Shelby, but his skill set didn't seem to be
translating well at Coors. Ellender gives me a long term 2b option and
gives me a phenomenal defensive middle infield, Ishida will be a useful back end
guy, and Aiello should become an ace. Olson will give me a long term catcher,
and i hope Thomas and Dulin can get some jumps in them and become valuable."
