It is coming down to the wire and teams are still trying to make deals. Names surrounding the looming deadline are Houston's Mike Trumbo and Colorado's Matt Szczur.
Mike Trumbo- Rumor is Houston has a deal close to being done with a deal that would send away Trumbo. Rumor is Trumbo is being traded for a handful of specs plus a solid young replacement. Early reports say the Dodgers are close to completing a deal. Jonathan Singleton plus more seems to be the base for Trumbo.
Matt Szczur- Early reports had him in Oakland but reports have gone stale since. A deal is unlikely at this point but isn't completely dead.

Ben Revere Rumors as of 3:00 PM EST
Ben Revere probably is the most covenant name out there today on the block at the deadline. Here is our look at whats going on.
2:00- Marlins reveal Dodgers, Angels and White Sox all in hunt for Revere. Marlins are looking for a big package in return.
2:45- Rumors begin to come out that the White Sox are in the lead for Ben Revere.
3:00- Marlins are still waiting for other teams but seems apparent Revere may be on way to White Sox.

Trade Rumors as of 2:30 PM EST
The Trade Deadline is nearing and teams are looking to make alot of moves. Some names being tossed around surround Oscar Hernandez, Ben Revere, Vern Carman, Jon Lester, Lonnie Chisenhall, Chris Young, and Garrett Jones.
Oscar Hernandez- Seattle reporting there has been activity but not enough to move him yet. Boston is a team that has presented interest but the Mariners are not sure if it is enough to deal their starting catcher. Hernandez markets seems to be quiet outside of Boston. My projection is he doesn't move.
Ben Revere- A shocking name here at deadline but only hearing it is talks. The Marlins are reported to be talking to teams such as the Angels, Dodgers, and White Sox. Early reports see the Dodgers as a suitable candidate. My projection is he doesn't move. Revere is a guy who will bring in a huge package. Not sure if many teams will want to give it up.
Vern Carman- Rumors are saying Arizona potentially. The Diamondbacks would love to bring in a young SP and New York likes the young outfields in Arizona, which is what they are looking for. Don't be shocked if this gets done. My projection is Carman is in Phoenix at the end of the day.
Jon Lester- Lester went for a small deal as the White Sox acquired Lester for 2B prospect Jaime Perkins. Lester has struggled greatly in New York this year and looks to come over and have a good last month with the Sox. Lester does not look like he will make comp so the question is will the white sox re up Lester with no compensation.
Lonnie Chisenhall, Chris Young, and Garrett Jones are all names flying around but rumors are the front is quiet on them.

Future Marlins says Bye to BMJ
The Dodgers GM FMGM gave his notice that he was leaving BMJ at the end of August. FMGM wrote this as to why he is leaving.
"Just recently, I got my work schedule for the upcoming fall semester and will be working 30 hours a week. In addition, I will be taking full time classes; my final courses required for my Bachelors degree and before my semester of Student Teaching in the winter semester. Finally, this upcoming fall semester, I will be completing my practicum which requires teaching in a classroom for one day a week.
After sitting down and looking over all the commitments I will have coming up for the upcoming fall semester (won't be home until 9 on weeknights), I have arrived at a very difficult decision. I am announcing at this time that I will be leaving BaseMogul Junkies; resigning both my commissioner-ship and as GM of the Los Angeles Dodgers effective at the end of August.
I wanted to make this announcement well in advance so that the league can make appropriate preparations for when I do make my departure from the league. In addition, I wanted to thank everyone for making this the best league I've ever been apart of, especially to NWU who entrusted me to be part of the commissioners in this league and to SoxFan1918 and Stratford as fellow commissioners."
FMGM has been a great Commissioner for BMJ and I hope he can come back soon.

11:23 pm: Reports are circulating that SP Ricky Romero and SS Alexi Ramirez are headed to Miami for low level prospects. Those prospects are not clear at the moment. It is believed that this Miami and Baltimore have been negotiating this trade the past three days.

Casey Kelly Rumors
Early reports are indicate Casey Kelly is on way to the Red Sox. Kelly has been traded for a replacing SP in Jarrod Parker, SP prospects John White, Quentin Roth, and Chris Warkol. The Red Sox will receive Casey Kelly and a 4th round pick from the Rockies.
The Red Sox just made a jump to the top of the AL East now leading by 3.5 over the Yankees.
Kelly is 13-6 with a 2.67 ERA. Kelly was won 5 straight games that he has decided. Kelly went 7 innings and gave up 2 runs in his final start with Colorado.

Rockies could Look to Trade Ace
Denver, CO- The Rockies have said they are not packing up quite yet but could be looking to deal SP Casey Kelly. Kelly who is in his 2nd Season with the Rockies is 11-6 with a 2.74. Kelly of course though won't come cheap. The Rockies GM Rmel has already said he does not know whether or not a trade will happen but it will depend on the price he gets. The Rockies are looking to get a major spec package for Kelly. Kelly is sure to gain alot of interest and a source close to the Rockies has told BMJTR that they have received offers but have not had one that has made them want to move Kelly.
Some potential teams interested in Kelly could be the Orioles, Tigers, White Sox, Astros, Athletics, Phillies, Century, and Reds. All these teams are in need of a SP if they want to make a run in the playoffs.
BMJTR is projecting a 30% chance of the Rockies trading Kelly and we also project if he is traded it will be to the Orioles.

A look at expansion
They also have a long hill to climb in order to attract fans.
"We have a baseball team, who knew?" said one Santa Ana resident.
"There are about a thousand other things in Orlando that I would do before I see a baseball game. Hell, I would rather see the Orlando Magic before I go watch the clusterfuck that the MLB is trying to sell us." said one angry Orlando resident.
"It's disheartening," said James Loney (Orlando Century 1st baseman). "I had my doubts when I first heard about the expansion and so far they have been proven correct."
Both teams are averaging less than 25,000 fans per game.
"We've been trying to do some promotions to attract fans," said Santa Ana's promotion Manager. "But it's hard to get fans to switch to your team when we have 5 mlb teams within a close range competing with us. It makes it very difficult."

Franzen Leaves
After some controversy with a trade with the Braves Franzen quit as the Mariners General Manager.
You can see the trade that caused Franzen to leave in this link, (http://z13.invisionfree.com/BaseMogul_Junkies/index.php?showtopic=5921&st=0&#last).
The Mariners former GM franzen stated this as the full reason for him quitting, "Too many shady people in this league for me, not willing to deal w/ it, not worth my time."
Some of the reactions too this are shown below.
W2B - "Are you serious? Shit that's weak."
FMGM - "So let me get this straight. An offer gets proposed (which actually looked more like an idea being tossed out there given that it was in the form of a question and not a statement), you jump the gun and post said offer without confirming it or allowing further response from the other GM, and yet you call that GM shady? Right...
I forgot who said it in chat, but if in 3 days, you believe you've been in shady dealing with 4 teams already; then maybe its you who should reconsider your approach. Maybe you shouldn't jump the gun to post a deal without total confirmation or just based on something that seems implied, rather than explicit."

The Royals Trade the Rookie Bryan Lee
SP: Bryan Lee 92 24
C: Brian McCann 83 33 16M until 2017
2B: Reagan Hammott 71/80 22
CF: Gustavo Cabrera 85/89 21
SP: Noah Syndergard 86 24
SP: Jose Mejia 79/83 21
15 Million
The Nationals relased this statement shortly after the trade was complete, "Gustavo Cabrera although a star talent, had no place on my team due to the abundance of OF on the team and the recent excellent performance by Rasmus and Bruce.
Hammott, Meija, and Syndergaard are all tough to give up as I wanted to keep them as part of my core future, I think Syndergaard could use change of scenery where he can be a much better pitcher, Hammott and Meija are potential upside players that can contribute to another team and be a much better fit for the future, McCann is just a throw in and I am giving him compensation of 15 million in return for Royals taking McCann off my hands.
I am hoping Lee can contribute as a back-end starter and although many times I have said I don't want any picks in the draft I don't want any picks in the draft, there is ONE SPECIFIC player I am targeting and hoping he falls to the 40th pick so it is a risky move giving up players that can contribute now for a spec that may or may not be good at all."

Florida Trade
CF Chris Coghlan 91 31 $12 mil until FA 2020
RF Tony Fennell 73/80 20 pennies arb 2020
SP Jim Lawrence 55/79 22 pennies arn 2020
1st rounder (27th ovr)
1st rounder (17th ovr)
2nd rounder (40th ovr)
2nd rounder (48th ovr)
2nd rounder (49th ovr)
Mike stated this shortly after the trade, " I hate giving up 4 quality draft picks although receive 1 back. Coghlan and Fennell are about worth the 17th pick in both Nucker and my eyes. and that leaves 27th ovr and Lawrence for the 3 high 2nd rounder's as about equal as well in this deep draft class. Coghlan has good vitals and has been productive but there is risk as he is 31 years old and hopefully does not drop anytime soon. But Nucker gets him off the payroll and gets a group of nice picks in return. I am making a move to compete foreal next season and Coghlan should help."
Four Draft Picks go to Baltimore
SP Sammy Solis 94 28 $6.5 mil until FA 2018
RP Alfredo Rosilez 78/86 23
1st rounder (28th ovr via DET)
3rd rounder (70th ovr via CHC)
5th rounder (139th ovr via SFG)
6th rounder (168th ovr via CLE)
RP Carlos Lozano 65/84 24
3B Robel Garcia 74/79 24
SP Brian Flynn 75 27
Miami released this statement after the deal, "I definitely think he is getting enough value in return for Solis and Rosilez. While Solis is a solid SP he is not an ace and will probably be my 5th guy in the rotation or bullpen possibly. He has solid vitals and a decent contract but is doing nothing for BAL sitting on his team, so he trades him to me and gets a 1st rounder along with other complementary pieces to help him out. I think this trade is very fair, and me giving up alot extra to get this deal done. The last deal most people thought was fair and this is the same deal take out 5 mil form BAL and add lozano, 3rd, 5th and 6th rounder from me to make it fair I guess."

Mariners better which in reality actually makes us worse off! Ferrell is
whatever, just didn't want the contract."
Time To Say Goodbye
Unfortunately it was found out today that Stan Musial and Robin Roberts died. Roberts and Musial were both in there 90's and Musial was closing in on 100 as he was 96. Both man had Hall of Fame careers and both men will be remembered for years too come for there contribution to the game. R.I.P Robin Roberts 1926-2017 and R.I.P Stan "the Man" Musial 1920-2017 they will be missed.

Shocking Starts
SP Jake Peavy ARI: Last Year Arizona was looking to trade
Peavy at the Trade Deadline; the usually mediocre Peavy was not traded from
Arizona and therefore renewed his contract with Arizona for 2.7Million till
2018. That investment in Peavy was a very smart one by Jmel. To Start 2017
Peavy has 6 wins which is tied for the league lead with 1 loss, Peavy has
really helped the Diamondbacks hang in there in NL West as the struggling Zach
Lee hasn’t really preformed even close to his AL CY Young Stats in 2016. If you
ask me I could see the D-Backs trading Peavy if Lee can start preforming like
he used too, but if he can't then I think Jake Peavy will have to lead the
D-Backs to the top of the NL West.
SP Andrew Chaffin LAD: I find this very funny as the Dodgers
GM FMGM was going to give Chaffin to Oakland as comp for a trade that FMGM
declined after KC/Sadderday posted it. I bet FMGM is happy the Mods and admins
vetoed the trade unless he may not be in first in the NL West. Unlike Arizona
the Dodgers don’t have a Starter struggling but none the less if the Dodgers
did not have Chaffin they might not be first in NL West. As Chaffin is 6-1 with
a 2.80 ERA and 43 Ks.
Blockbuster: St. Louis and Tampa Complete a 7-Player Deal
Bryan Buxton CF 94 23
Dan Macasland SP 83/93 21
1st Round 14th overall
Comp A Pick
Comp A Pick
1st Round 29th overall pick
2nd Round 46th overall pick
My Take: I think St. Louis won this trade by getting all the DPs they did, Tampa did get a pretty good return in Buxton and Macastland. Buxton is a really good young outfielder who wil help Tampa Bay in the long run.
Hicks goes back to Baltimore
SP Troy Kress 69/87 21
SP James Dyer 73/86 21
2nd Round Pick th
3rd Round Pick 80th
CF Aaron Hicks 92 27
RP Bobby Parnell 81 32
Kirby Puckett said this post-trade, "I really like Kress, and Dyer but when I get a chance to add Hicks a solid CF after trading him off last season makes me happy. Getting another reliever like Parnell was a solid move by me too again add another good reliever. So overall I really like this trade. The 2nd rounder was a pick I definantly had to add to make this trade work but trading another pick in the 3rd was neccessary to add Parnell."

Royals Trade For Johnson
3rd Round Pick 71
5Million
RP Jim Johnson 81
Ryan said this about the trade, "I needed some bullpen help. I know that Johnson's contract is expensive but I have the cap room to make it work. Johnson should definantly take over as our closer."
Rasmus Is On Fire
After having a great April Washington Nationals Outfielder Colby Rasmus started May off with a bang hitting for the Cycle against the Braves on May 2nd. Rasmus has been red hot in his last three games hitting 3 HRs with 9 RBIs and a .667 Batting Average. As of now Colby has been taken off the trading block for the Nationals as told too us by the Nationals GM.
When we caught up to the Nationals GM he had this too say, "No team has pusued Rasmus as of this moment." He added "In addition Colby Rasmus will be taken off the Block as of his recent preformance."

He is a 25 year old stud but I am looking to acquire a little more depth in the picks/collins and get Wurz to hopefully fill the rotation nicely. Khalifa should make BOS one of the best rotations in the majors and puts him as a true contender. The 17 pick hopefully can bring me something good. and the 2nd/collin can hopefully be suitable/useful at some point, good trade everyone wins."

SP-Nate Keys 80/91
PHI 2017 2nd rd. pick (47 overall)
RF-Dave Thirkettle 60/77
Rays Trade:
SP-Charles Wheeler 89
My Take: This could be a good trade for both teams if Wheeler doesn't keep preforming as bad as he is with his 0-9 record and 9.90 ERA. Nate Keys is a good young starter that will definatley help Tampa later on.

Rasmus On the Block
It was reported on Friday that the Washington Nationals are looking to trade Center Fielder Colby Rasmus. The Nats got Rasmus in 2016 from the Jays by trading Jon Gladney and Geronimo Sanchez. Colby's 12.5 Million dollar contract is expiring at the end of the year and he is expected to want somewhere around 13.5 Million for a long-term deal. If Colby doesn't get traded I could see him getting comp for the Nats.
As of right now I was informed that no teams have shown interest in Colby.

45th ranked prospect traded for the 43rd ranked prospect.
RF Thor Odinson 23 75/93
1st round pick from
SS Carlos Correa 22 78/86
The D-Backs said this after the trade was finalized, "I doubt I will be able to attend the draft this year and Correa was expendable. So why not get Thor and let him develop in my minors and is potentially my LF down the road."

Lester to New York
SP Jon Lester 93
5 million in cash
Metsfan released this statement after the deal, "Lester is a potential FA so I take a risk that he could pitch in ny to type A or B standards if not I save my specs from pitching in the mlb."
Scherxer gets Traded in a 8-Player Deal
SP Carlos Javrengi (67/90)
SP Arto Dutieroez (71/87)
3B Randy Martin (61/88)
3B Dan Stollings (71/84)
IF Victor Pinedo (73/84)
OF Jon McEachran (74/81)
SP Max Scherzer (91)
C Brian McCann (83)
Nats had this to say about the trade,"I know this may seem like I am giving up a lot but I still have Gustavo Cabrera, Ben Jones on my team along with Trevor Dullin for hitting (and since most of my stars are still young this guys are just gonna rot on the bench) and I still have Fried and signed an abundance of FA pitchers for depth reasons.
With Scherzer I get another frontline level starter that can anchor the backend of the rotation and create one of the strongest most devastating pitching staffs in the NL with Stras, Mike Wright, J. Zimmerman, Scherzer and N. Syndgaard.
McCann is more cap relief in addition to serving as backup catcher on the team if Ramos gets hurt (even though I have Arrencibia I am wary of how much production he'll give me)."

1st Round Comp Pick
Farrall, Hugh LF ARI 22 82 98 $450,000 Arb '19 2014

Wheeler, Charles SP ARI 24 89 91 $450,000 Arb '18 2013

TO
Trail, Luke CF TBR 26 93 96 $15,500,000 1 2013
Lee, Zach SP TBR 25 95 95 $19,000,000 1
Soria, Joakim RP TBR 32 91 91 $10,800,000 4
This deal came together rather quickly and not a long, drawn out process like they usually are. It was hard to give up Farrall as I see him reaching 90's contact/power and high 80's eye and could end up a much better offensive player than Trail.
Vogelbach is a BIG boppin 1b but he became expendable once Raskin made his jumps. But, Trail is already a proven very good CFer. So sign me up, BABY!
My 1st round pick and type A comp pick were hard to give up as this draft is extremely deep, but had to be done to acquire these two big pieces.
On to Lee...
Zach Lee was the main piece for us in this trade. I wasn't sold on Wheeler after his latest jump to 89/91 and will probably peak next sim. So I was in the market for another ace and the way the FA market has been going, it just didn't make any sense for us to spend that kind of money on aging, and hurt veterans. Soria is also another piece to help stabilize our bullpen(which was a weakness of this team).
