Miami had this to say after the trade, "Obviously as seeing what Khalifa is worth on the market is a good amount basing it off of the NYY deal that got vetoed and this deal. He is a 25 year old stud but I am looking to acquire a little more depth in the picks/collins and get Wurz to hopefully fill the rotation nicely. Khalifa should make BOS one of the best rotations in the majors and puts him as a true contender. The 17 pick hopefully can bring me something good. and the 2nd/collin can hopefully be suitable/useful at some point, good trade everyone wins."
